It was Sunday, Valentines day and it was was bitter cold. The church was busy by the time I arrived. Where our chairs are usually set up facing the pulpit we had the tables out with bags of candy and people stuffing the bags. Some tables had poster board on them with markers and crayons. I took all the kids over to the smaller kid table and we began to make posters. “Free Candy.” “God Loves You.”
Pastor Charity gave a brief message. Christina is in charge of the Servant Evangelism that we are starting, so she got up and told a bit about what we were doing. The goal was simple. Show God’s love to people up here in northeast Kansas City. We had little baggies of candy with a little card containing a simple message “This is a Free Gift, Just as God’s Love is Free.” The back had directions to the church and meeting times. We grabbed The signs we made, some valentines balloons, and bags of candy and headed to independence. We split up into two groups. One went to Independence and Hardesty and I went with a group to Independence and Prospect.

I haven’t posted here in quite a while. I guess I should let you all know I am still alive out here in Kansas City. The Kids are doing good also. Halloween is approaching, We’ll be doing something cool for Halloween this year, I’m just not certain what yet. I was planning on taking the kids trick-or-treating like I do every year, but their mother is getting them this year. that sucks because I was really looking forward to it. Mia told me she wanted to be a puppy dog, Christian wanted to dress like an ancient Egyptian, and Jeremiah wanted to be a Robot. I was working on their outfits, but now it looks like that is not happening.
Christina and I are going to do something for Halloween now. I am not certain, but it looks like there is a day of the dead celebration we may try to check out. Also there is some cool looking puppet show thing going on. I am not sure what all we will do, but it should be fun.
I am really looking forward to seeing David Tennant’s last few episodes as the Doctor, and Matt Smith take the lead. It seems like it has been forever since I have seen new Doctor Who. I am beginning to have withdraw symptoms like a junkie. I think Matt Smith will be good.
On Tuesday we held the first meeting of the Scarritt Renaissance Bible Study. On tuesday we went over the Subject of Scripture to introduce the study and ask why we would even take time to study scripture. The Meeting went well. We need you all. If you are reading this in the Kansas City area, you are invited to join us on tuesday nights.
This bible study is different than most. The material for each week I will give ahead of time in an effort to let everyone look over it, and have a say and to have preknowledge of the topic. I encourage all to come. We are people who were not always the “Bible Study” type, so if you don’t fit in well at churches and with the average church people you might find this a good deal more inviting. I hope you will come check it out. We are looking to grow.
With a look into 2 Timothy 3:16-17 we saw some good stuff about scripture and followed the bible around to see many other benefits and reasons to continue to read and study scripture. April 14th we are going into Romans and looking at what is said about salvation, what it is, why it is needed etc..

The American household often revolves around the televison. Instead of spending the evening with your family and those you love and care about many just plop in front of a television and watch other people doing what they are not doing. It is sad that many watch others live life when they do not. Is there some sort of empty part to people that makes them want to tune into these rehashed sitcoms and redundant reality shows?

Those of you that know me more than likely know I have Tourette Syndrome. Recently a Tourette Support Group started up here in the Kansas City Area. I jumped on the chance to put up a site. I’m all excited about it. I hope that many people with Tourette Syndrome will benefit from this. I have noticed how different things are today compared to when I was growing up. Resources and concepts being talked about here are nothing like what I was used to. I think that kids with Tourettes will benefit greatly from this, and I also feel that there is a great deal for parents to learn also.

Going back to Cincinnati last week was strange. It is often odd to visit the city I spent so many years in. I went to high school there and I started off life as a young adult there. It is always nice to see friends and family, but it is all so strange. I look around and what I remember as every day common place has been altered.
